How many of you have ever thought about moving to Spain after walking your Camino? Victor did it and now owns a house in Galicia!

After the sudden loss of his wife, Victor left his job as an art director in Munich and set out with no plan, little experience, and a 20-kilo pack. Following the Camino from Germany through France and Spain, he walked over 3,000 kilometers – a journey that led him to healing, beekeeping in Galicia, and a new life.

Walking Through Loss

Victor Kowalsky’s Camino de Santiago began not in Spain, but in the heart of Munich – and in the depths of personal loss. After the sudden death of his wife, Victor felt an undeniable pull to walk. He had no set plan, no prior experience, and a 20-kilo backpack that would become both burden and companion. What he did have was a determination to follow the yellow arrows, wherever they might lead.

Three Countries, Countless Moments

Victor’s route took him from Germany into France and finally across the length of Spain, covering more than 3,000 kilometers. He slept in churches, small albergues, and under open skies, experiencing the Camino’s unfiltered highs and lows. The road taught him resilience, patience, and how to embrace the unpredictable.

From deep conversations with fellow pilgrims to quiet days of solitude, Victor found moments of peace that began to stitch his life back together.

A New Life in Galicia

Reaching Santiago wasn’t the end – it was the start of a new chapter. Drawn to the slower rhythm of rural life, Victor stayed in Galicia, eventually taking up beekeeping and finding a sense of home he hadn’t expected. His Camino transformed not only how he lived, but where he chose to plant roots.

Victor is a pilgrim, traveler, and storyteller who turned a journey of grief into a path toward healing and new beginnings. His epic 3,000km Camino continues to inspire others to take their first step, no matter where they start from.
