Terms & conditions
1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to El Camino People. These General Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the contractual relationship between you, the client (“you”, “user” or “pilgrim”), and El Camino People (“we”, “our” or “the company”) regarding the booking, purchase, and use of our travel services and experiences.
By accessing our website, making an enquiry, confirming a booking, or taking part in one of our trips, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, you must refrain from using our services.
2. Scope of Service
El Camino People specialises in organising, managing, and coordinating trips and experiences along the Camino de Santiago and other international pilgrimage routes. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Accommodation bookings across different categories.
- Luggage transfers and private or shared transportation.
- Dining services and gastronomic experiences.
- Cultural, spiritual, and wellness activities.
- Travel insurance and on-route assistance.
- Personalised documentation, maps, and pilgrim credentials.
- 24/7 phone and logistical support during your trip.
Each travel proposal will clearly specify which services are included, as well as optional or excluded services.
3. Bookings and Payments
To secure your place and allow us to confirm arrangements with our suppliers, the following payment policy applies:
- Initial deposit: A payment of 50% of the total trip cost is required to confirm any booking.
- Of this 50%, 25% of the total trip cost is a non-refundable deposit, covering administrative, booking, and planning expenses.
- The remaining 25% of the initial payment is refundable according to the cancellation policy outlined in Section 5.
- Final payment: The remaining 50% must be paid no later than 30 days before the trip start date.
- Last-minute bookings: For reservations made less than 30 days before departure, full payment (100%) is required at the time of confirmation.
- All payments must be made in euros (€) by bank transfer, credit/debit card, or another method authorised by the company.
4. Prices, Changes, and Availability
- All prices include applicable VAT and are shown in euros, unless otherwise stated.
- El Camino People reserves the right to adjust prices prior to booking confirmation due to changes in transport costs, taxes, supplier rates, or currency fluctuations.
- Service availability is subject to confirmation at the time of booking. If a specific service is unavailable, we will offer an equivalent or superior alternative, or allow cancellation without additional cost.
5. Cancellation and Refund Policy
We understand that plans may change. However, due to the nature of the services we arrange in advance, the following policy applies:
- Non-refundable deposit: 25% of the total trip cost (part of the initial payment) is non-refundable under any circumstances.
- More than 30 days before departure: The refundable portion of the deposit (25% of the total trip cost) will be returned.
- 15–30 days before departure: 50% of all amounts paid to date will be refunded, minus the non-refundable deposit.
- Less than 15 days before departure: No refund will be issued.
- No-shows: Failure to appear on the trip start date will be treated as a cancellation with no refund.
- In cases of duly proven force majeure, El Camino People may, at its discretion, offer a travel credit for future use.
6. Transfer of Booking
You may transfer your booking to another person who meets all travel requirements, provided you notify us in writing at least 30 days before departure. Both you and the transferee will be jointly responsible for payment and any additional costs resulting from the change.
7. Client Documentation and Requirements
- It is your responsibility to ensure you have all required travel documents (ID card, passport, visas, special permits, etc.).
- El Camino People documentation (itinerary, vouchers, maps, pilgrim credential, etc.) will be sent by email approximately 30 days before departure, once full payment has been received.
- You are responsible for checking your documentation and notifying us of any errors before the trip starts.

10. Changes by El Camino People
In exceptional and justified cases, we may modify itineraries, schedules, or suppliers. In such cases, we will inform you as soon as possible and offer an alternative of equal or higher quality, or a partial refund.
