Walking Around the World: Tom Turcich’s Seven-Year Journey
Have you ever thought about walking around the world? Tom did, and now he is on a 5 year journey around the world. The World Walk.
Motivated by a promise to live without regret, Tom spent years preparing physically and financially to make his walk around the world possible. Starting from his home in New Jersey, he crossed into South America, through Europe, Africa, Asia, and beyond, returning home seven years later – forever changed.
A Dream to Circle the Globe
Most people dream of adventure – Tom Turcich decided to live it. Inspired in his teens by the passing of a close friend, Tom committed himself to living fully. That commitment turned into an extraordinary mission: to walk around the entire world.
Seven Years, Six Continents
Tom’s journey took him through deserts, mountains, jungles, and cities across six continents. Along the way, he faced extreme weather, border challenges, and moments of deep solitude. His constant companion? His loyal dog, Savannah, who joined him for the majority of the trek. Together, they discovered the kindness of strangers and the shared humanity that transcends language and culture.
Lessons from the Road
After more than 28,000 miles, Tom’s journey was about far more than geography. It was a study in resilience, simplicity, and the deep connections made when traveling at walking pace. The Camino de Santiago may have been just one part of his route, but its values of community, reflection, and perseverance were with him every step of the way.
Tom Turcich is the tenth person to walk around the world and the first American man to do so with his dog, Savannah. His story continues to inspire adventurers worldwide.
