The story of La Peseta restaurant is the story of five generations dedicated to gastronomy since 1871. Vicente Alegre and Mª Teresa Olandía started with a small shop that soon became a casa de comidas. Their son Leonardo, alongside the exceptional cook Florentina Ramos, helped elevate the business while working on the construction of the Gaudí Palace (a must-see in Astorga!).
In 1912, their daughter Irene modernized the restaurant and officially registered the name “La Peseta,” projecting it internationally. Today, Luciano and Balbina, along with their children, represent the fifth generation, keeping the tradition alive while adapting it to modern times. La Peseta remains a symbol of quality and dedication as it enters its third century of existence.
